Century Disc's Ultra Hard Coat Formula (the Scratch-Protection Coating | SPC) protects the disc's recording surface from scratches, fingerprints, and other contaminants. This is same type of hard coat protection available on new technology Blu-ray Discs.
Century Discs use an ultra-precise recording material to ensure an even higher quality disc recording. Century Discs are manufactured in smaller quantities (than mass produced CDs/DVDs)so that Block Error Rates ( BLER ) are kept to a minimum so you'll never have to worry about degregation or dataloss.
The 24-karat gold layer protects the encapsulated silver reflective layer from corrosion and potential deterioration, ensuring the DVD disc datalife to span a hundred years or more. The Archival Gold CD-R disc version is tested to last over 300 years.
